About the Movement

Car Free 30 is a community led movement to reduce private car use.

It all begins with a small change. Maybe you walk one day a week, maybe you try the bus, maybe you switch to a scooter.

Maybe we change the world.

Car Free 30 started with a small idea at the end of a hundred video calls in the heart of a COVID lockdown.

Brainstorming how to start made us decide - JUST START! Car Free 30 can be done in any town, in any country. Choose a month that works best with your local weather and the activities that might already be happening.

For us, November was chosen out of a little impatience and a need to get going - and a little pragmatic voice that suggested November was a great sunshiney month in Perth, Western Australia to get people on their feet. ‘No Car November’ is our local Car Free 30.

Who we are

Car Free 30 was founded by Anika Chhabra, Anna Kelderman and Rachel Doohan. We’ve been joined by Chris Swiderski, Kara Pisconeri and Linnea Edebert. We share an office filled with a number of companies and collectively we bus, bike, scooter and train our daily commutes. Car Free 30 is making us change much more than that and a little collective competition has really caused a stir. We still have some office mates to convert!

You can find us in Leederville, WA - get in touch and come by for a coffee (no cars allowed!)
